- 4 cl dark rum
- 5 cl pineapple juice
- 2 cl cream
- 1,5 cl sugar syrup
- 1,5 cl coconut syrup or coconut cream
- 2 cl freshly squeezed lime juice
- Cocktail Shaker
- Measuring cup
- Ice cubes
The cocktail was first mixed in the early 1800s. Pirate Roberto Cofresi created the cocktail. The pirates naturally had to have a glass of rum before going prey hunting. It made them all the more dumb. They had pineapple and coconut available. It was mixed and that's how the Piña Colada came into life. However, there is no doubt that the Piña Colada that was mixed at that time is nowhere near the one we know today. It was harsh, bitter and spicy.

- Make sure you have everything listed above. This creates an incentive for a really good result.
Start by pouring rum, cream and sugar syrup into your cocktail shaker.
If you want to use fresh pineapple juice, then you need to squeeze the juice from a pineapple. It can be done with a juicer or with a mortar. You can also buy pineapple juice. Measure the correct amount and pour it into your rum, sugar syrup and cream.
Press 2 cl of lime. It's about the juice from 1/2 lime.
Fill the cocktail shaker with ice cubes. Then close it and make sure it is tight.
Now you have to shake the cocktail. Smile and shake the cocktail, as if you were Tom Cruise in the movie Cocktail.
Strain the cocktail in your glass. Fill the glass with ice cubes.
Garnish with pineapple and coconut flakes. Serve it for your thirsty guests or try it for yourself. Cheers!

Cocktail tips from us
You can twist a Piña Colada and make it in other ways.
The easy version is to replace the pineapple juice with another juice. If you use mango juice, you get a Mango Colada. You can also make it with passion fruit juice etc.
Another nice twist is to blend the cocktail. Then it becomes a Frozen Piña Colada. It is also quite refreshing on a hot summer day.
Alternatively, try making it with a different liquor. Try with tequila. Tequila does almost everything better. Maybe also a Piña Colada.
