Whiskey Sour is a good old classic. It originated from the United States, where it, in writing, dates back to the 1870s from the state of Wisconsin.
The Whiskey Sour that we use today and the most popular is with egg whites. Originally, it is actually a Boston Sour. A Whiskey Sour is actually just Bourbon Whiskey, lemon juice and sugar syrup.
Can't stand eggs? Or are you just against eating eggs? Then just try to replace it using chickpea water from a can of chickpeas. It will give the same foamy effect.
But enough about that. Here is our drink recipe and a guide to how you easily can make it in your kitchen for your next big cocktail party.

Make sure you have everything you need. If not, find a good alternative to what you need.
Pour whiskey, sugar syrup and egg whites into your cocktail shaker.
Press half a lemon and pour the juice into the shaker. It should correspond to approximately 3 cl.
Close the shaker and shake it without ice cubes. This is a dry shake. The purpose of this is to make the egg white foam so it becomes airy.
Now fill the shaker completely with ice cubes. You do not want to water down the cocktail.
Shake it again. Stop when you feel that the shaker is ice cold.
Open the shaker, use a strainer and pour the content into a cocktail glass.
- Drip 2 dashes of Angostura on top of the cocktail.
Now garnish the cocktail. We recommend an orange peel, lemon peel or a cocktail cherry. Maybe some gold dust too.
- Now you just have to toast with your guests. Are you alone? Then drink it all yourself proudly. Cheers!

Cocktail tips from us
You can twist a Whiskey Sour in so many ways.
Boston Sour as we have already mentioned (here it is made without egg white). We have also mentioned a Vegan Whiskey Sour (with chickpea water instead of egg whites).
Another twist is getting 1-2 cl red wine in it. This is called a New York Sour.
Other obvious options are to replace Bourbon with another liquor. Try Scottish, Irish, Japanese or Danish Whiskey. You can also try with tequila, gin, vodka or snaps. Your imagination and taste preferences set the boundaries.
