Caipirinha is Brazil's national drink. The base is made of Cachaca, which is a Brazilian spirits.

It reminds somewhat of rum, but is made on sugar cane juice, in contrast to rum, which is made from Molasses (a waste product in sugar production). It is like many other cocktails from the early 1900's.

Here are our cocktailrecipe and a guide, so you without hassle can make it in your kitchen for your next cocktailparty

THIS IS HOW TO MAKE A CAIPIRINHA

  1. Make sure you have all the ingredients.

  2. Start by cutting half a lime into boats. Put the boats in your glass

  3. Then pour 3 bar spoons of cane sugar into your lime boats

  4. Fill your glass with crushed ice

  5. Pour 5 cl Cachaca over the crushed ice

  6. Now pour 1 cl of sugar syrup into your drink
  7. Now you have to churn your cocktail. This is done by using the spoon. Take a napkin in your hand and place it on the glass. Then put the spoon into the glass and stir it all around. Lime and sugar should stay in the bottom of the glass

  8. Now top with crushed ice
  9. Garnish with lime wheel, straw and now it is ready to serve.

  10. Now you just have to toast with your guests. If you have no guests, try it yourself. Cheers!

Cocktail tips from us

You can also easily twist a Caipirinha.

Try topping it with ginger ale or ginger beer. Gives a breath of fresh air to the cocktail.

You can also replace cachaca with vodka. Then you have a Caipirovska. Also try with rum, then it is almost a Mojito.

You can also use different fruits and syrups with lime and cane sugar.

Try with mint, strawberry, blueberry, raspberry or something else.

Then you get a fruity and maybe even more summer-fresh cocktail.
